Passport photos at the exact size, printed for a few rupees

Passport, visa, PAN card and exam forms ask for photos of an exact size, such as 35 × 45 mm in India, the UK and the Schengen area, or 2 × 2 inches (51 × 51 mm) for US passports and Indian visas. This tool crops your photo to that shape and saves it at 300 DPI with the print size written into the file, so it prints at exactly the right size.

For printing, it lays out as many copies as fit on 4 × 6 inch photo paper (8 passport photos, ready for any photo shop) or on A4 paper as a PDF for a home printer. For online forms that limit the file size, choose “Under 50 KB” or another limit. Everything runs in your browser, so your photo stays on your device.

Questions

What size is a passport photo in India?

35 × 45 mm (3.5 × 4.5 cm) with a white or light background, the face looking straight at the camera, and the head taking up most of the height. Indian visa and OCI applications use 2 × 2 inches (51 × 51 mm) instead. Always check the latest rules on the form you are filling in.

Can it remove or change the background?

No. The tool crops and sizes your photo, but it does not cut out the person. Take the photo against a plain white or light-coloured wall in good daylight; that gives the best result and is what most offices expect.

How do I print the photos?

Download the 4 × 6 JPG and print it at any photo shop or photo kiosk as a normal 4 × 6 inch (10 × 15 cm) print, which costs a few rupees. At home, download the A4 PDF and print it at “Actual size” or 100% scale, not “Fit to page”, then cut along the light grey lines.

How many photos fit on one sheet?

8 passport photos (35 × 45 mm) on 4 × 6 inch paper and 30 on A4. For 2 × 2 inch photos it is 6 on 4 × 6 paper, printed edge to edge as photo shops do, and 15 on A4.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. The photo is cropped, resized and laid out in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, so your face and ID photos stay private.
